The Power Report

Wabash Valley near top of Indianapolis non-profit list

September 29, 2011

Wabash Valley Power Association is the fourth-largest not-for-profit organization headquartered in central Indiana, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.

The weekly business newspaper ranked the area’s top 50 non-profits based upon reported 2010 revenues, and the G&T’s $750.1 million easily put it in the fourth spot. The first three places on the list went to hospital groups -- IU Health, St. Vincent Health, and Community Health Network.

Interestingly, there was a big gap in revenue per employee. Wabash Valley reported 64 employees, while Community Health Network’s $1.3 billion in revenue involved 8,652 employees.

The only other energy-related non-profit on the list was the Indiana Municipal Power Agency, which occupied seventh place with $383.7 million in revenue and 44 employees.
