Kankakee Valley helps with Statehouse tree

Kankakee Valley REMC crew at Christmas tree farmFor the sixth year in a row, Kankakee Valley REMC crews have a helped a local nursery prepare Indiana’s official Christmas tree for its journey to the Statehouse in Indianapolis.

Co-op member Hensler Nursery in Hamlet supplied both the 25-foot Concolor Fir that now stands in the Statehouse Rotunda, along with an eight-foot Fraser Fir for Lt. Governor Becky Skillman’s office.

Kankakee Valley REMC provided a bucket truck and digger truck to assist the nursery in the delicate operation of cutting the 28-year-old tree and preparing it for transport. Co-op linemen Ron Mann and Chris Brown, Energy Advisor Darrell Marks, and groundman Chris Frank worked with the nursery.

It is an honor to see a local tree grower highlighted at the Statehouse with a magnificent tree to celebrate this joyous Christmas season.”
