Clothes washer rebate program ends soon

December 02, 2011

Wabash Valley Power is ending the ENERGY STAR clothes washer rebate program at the end of 2011, Residential Energy Advisor Laura Matney recently told co-op communicators and Energy Advisors. “As we’ve evaluated the program, we’ve determined that we’re not saving as much energy as we projected,” Laura explained. “In addition, we determined that the $50 rebate didn’t have enough appeal to influence people to choose an ENERGY STAR model.”

Co-op members who do purchase a qualifying clothes washer right up to 11:59 p.m. on New Year’s Eve can still receive the rebate, as long as their applications for the program are postmarked no later than February 29, 2012. Members can expect to receive their rebates within six to eight weeks of submitting their applications. If co-ops have questions about other situations involving the rebates, they can contact Laura directly.
