NIPSCO to study sites for car chargers

A Los Angeles company that develops networks for automobile charging stations will identify potential locations within NIPSCO’s service territory. 350Green LLC will study the potential market for plug-in vehicles and create a plan for infrastructure.

NIPSCO believes that the plan will support its economic development efforts and enhance its image as a company concerned about the environment. The investor-owned utility has emphasized environmental issues after it reached a settlement with the EPA regarding violations of the Clean Air Act.

Officials of 350Green LLC anticipate that their study will detail ways to reduce barriers to ownership of plug-in vehicles. They’re expected to suggest locations for charging stations at places such as government-owned sites, major workplaces, and near public transportation routes.
